EXTRACT FROM THE GUIDE:

The first virtual navigation guide was created by the Grand Dic who chose to stop racing on Virtual Regatta in 2014, leaving the community orphaned by its wise advice, its little tips and the edition of its maps for VRTOOL.

In October 2015, Céline, at the helm of “FELISEATE” decided to take up the torch with the writing of an update, 6th edition of the guide.

Since and despite a new version of the game (VR 03), no one has put the job back on the book for a complete overhaul of this "bible". Even if it is always possible to progress with it, it must be recognized that without any notion of the game, it has now become very difficult.

I discovered Virtual Regatta in 2012 during the Vendée Globe. Completely new to sailing, I did what I could. When the race finished, I was hooked on the game and since then I have participated in almost every race. So I decided to make progress and, to do so, I researched all the information available on the subject. It was on this occasion that I discovered Céline's work.

The arrival of teams in the game has allowed us to create real teams with often very different levels. On the occasion of the last Route du Rhum, I am behind the initiative of Team 58 Nièvre. I was quickly joined by Nivernais whose VSR rank goes from 1 to 14 and passed on my passion to several of my friends who have just started on the game.

The end of any game is fun. But the peculiarity of Virtual Regatta is this competitive spirit that wins us over insidiously and very quickly we try to perform as well as possible. “Coatch” of the team, I am regularly asked for advice on the tools available to us or on strategies.

At first, my intention was to simply bring the 6th edition up to date. Very quickly I realized that it was extremely complicated and that it would be better to start from scratch.

As Didier and Céline did so well before me, I will try to help you better understand this exciting game that is Virtual Regatta Offshore.

I do not pretend to have written a "bible" but only a guide accessible to all who I hope can help you. I enjoyed writing it and hope you enjoy reading it. Of course, I am open to any suggestions, ideas and tips to improve or supplement it.
