Weather routing consists of finding the optimum route for a sailboat between 2 points. Indeed, the best sailing route will rarely be the straight line. To be calculated, this route must take into account:

 

• Boat performance

• Forecast weather

• Currents

• Waves

 

The goal of a weather router is usually to provide the fastest route.

 

On Virtual Regatta only the performance of the boat and the forecast weather forecast will be taken into account.
